Bug Fix

Fix: Newsletter merge fields now insert inline and match the surrounding font

Merge fields in the newsletter builder were hard to work with: inserting one from the editor created a standalone element on its own line that was difficult to delete without removing surrounding content, and the merge field rendered in a different font than the rest of the email — even after manually trying to change its font.

What’s Fixed

  • Click to copy — the merge fields panel below the newsletter editor is now the same click-to-copy panel used by the email template builder. Click any merge field to copy it, then paste it inline anywhere in your content.
  • Inline insertion — inserting a merge field from the editor’s merge tag toolbar now places it inline at your cursor as regular text, instead of creating a separate block element on its own line.
  • Font matching — merge fields now inherit the font of the surrounding text in previews and delivered emails, and font changes applied to them work like any other text.
  • Existing content — newsletters and email templates that already contain the old-style merge field elements are automatically cleaned up when the email is generated, so they also render in the correct font.
