Set Up Your Phone Provider and Claim Your Phone Number

Purpose: Activating the phone provider enables voice calling and SMS messaging for your team. Business registration is required before you can send text messages.

Before You Begin

You'll need:

  • Admin or Owner access to your Sure Send account
  • Your business legal name and EIN (Employer Identification Number)
  • Your business website URL (must include a privacy policy and SMS opt-in language)
  • Your business address

Note: Voice calling is available immediately after activation. SMS messaging requires business registration approval, which typically takes 2–3 weeks for brand approval plus 2–3 weeks for campaign approval.

Part 1: Activate the Dialer

  1. Click Settings in the left navigation menu.
  2. Select Phone Provider under Phone & Voice.
  3. Click Enable Dialer and SMS.
  4. In the confirmation prompt, click Activate Now.
  5. You'll see "Dialer and SMS Activated" with Voice Ready and SMS Ready badges.

Voice calling is now available. To send SMS messages, continue to Part 2.

Part 2: Complete Business Registration

Business registration (A2P 10DLC compliance) is required by mobile carriers before you can send text messages.

  1. On the Phone Provider page, locate the warning banner that says "Business registration required for SMS."
  2. Click Complete Registration.
  3. Fill out the Business Information form:
    • Business Legal Name — Your official registered business name (must match IRS records exactly)
    • Business Type — Select from the dropdown (must match IRS records)
    • Employer Identification Number (EIN) — Format: XX-XXXXXXX
    • Business Website — Must start with https://
    • Business Address — Street, City, State, ZIP (must match IRS records)
  4. Check the two confirmation boxes:
    • ☑️ My website has a privacy policy
    • ☑️ My website has clear opt-in language for text messages
  5. Click Continue.
  6. You'll see the A2P Registration Status page showing progress through:
    • Account Setup
    • Customer Profile
    • A2P Profile
    • Brand Registration
    • Campaign
  7. Check back periodically to verify your registration status. Click Refresh Status in the top right corner to see the latest progress on each step.

Once all steps show "Completed" or "Approved," your SMS messaging will be fully enabled.

Part 3: Claim Your Phone Number

After activation, you can claim a dedicated phone number for making calls and sending messages.

  1. Click Settings in the left navigation menu.
  2. Select Phone Settings under Phone & Voice.
  3. Click Choose Your Number.
  4. Enter a 3-digit Area Code (optional) to search for numbers in a specific region, or leave blank for any available numbers.
  5. Click Search Available Numbers.
  6. Browse the available numbers and click Select This Number next to your preferred option.

Tip: Click Search Available Numbers again to see a different set of options if you don't like the initial results.

After selecting your number, you'll see the My Phone Number settings page.

Part 4: Configure Call Routing

Set up how incoming calls are routed to you.

  1. Default Number — Toggle on to use this number by default for outgoing calls and messages.
  2. Call Forwarding Number — Enter your mobile or external number for forwarding calls. This is required for most routing options.
  3. Incoming Call Routing — Choose how calls are routed:

Click Save Changes.
